Nantwich Camera Club

Rules of Club Competitions 2008/9 Season

GENERAL

1. The Club competitions are open to all fully paid members.
2. Each competition will have separate categories for Prints and Digital Projected Images (DPI's).
3. There will be five competitions this season.
4. Each member may submit a maximum of four Prints and four DPI's in each competition in prioritised order i.e. 1,2,3 and 4 on the Competition "Entry Forms" provided. However, the Competition Secretaries reserve the right to reduce the number of entries down to three in either or both of the categories, if the total number of all entries needs to be limited to a level that the chosen judge can critically comment on during the evening. Therefore, in the event of entries being over subscribed, entry number 4 will be omitted from the competition. This omitted print/DPI will still be eligible for re-entry into any later competition.
5. Any print/DPI not attaining a mark from the judge of 16 or over in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th competitions can be re-submitted and will be accepted as an entry into the 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th competitions of the season. However, out of the maximum of four entries allowed, only one can be a re-submission – the others must be new work not previously entered into Club competitions.
NB. Each non-scoring entry may be re-submitted once only during the season and may not be carried forward to the following year/season.
Once again these re-submissions must be clearly indicated on the Competition Entry Forms in the priority of your choice.
6. Unless otherwise specified all internal Club competitions will be ‘Open’ in terms of theme.
7. To keep within the spirit of the competitions, the entries should be representative of the member’s current work.

PRINT COMPETITIONS

1. All prints must be presented on mounting board suitable for exhibition or entry to outside competitions entered by the Club.
2. Maximum size of the print/mount shall not exceed 50cm x 40cm. NB This is a change from previous seasons to comply with the new rule from the L&CPU for 2008.
3. Minimum print size shall not be less than 25.4cm (10") on the largest side.
4. Every print must be titled. This may be on the front or the back of the mount according to individual preference.
5. On the back of the mount, the author’s Club Membership Number must be shown.
6. All titling, Membership numbers etc. on the back of the mount must be either on a typed label or in pencil only. This avoids damage to other prints.

DIGITAL PROJECTED IMAGE (DPI) COMPETITIONS

1. DPI’s must be in a 1024 x 768 pixel format.
2. The colour space must be sRGB.
3. Files must be saved in a JPEG format, with the image title.
4. Entries must be submitted on a CD or Flash/Pen Drive, marked with the author’s name and Club. Membership Number.

For instructions on how to resize and save your images for DPI competitions, please follow the “Cropping Images for Club Projection” on the Nantwich Camera Club website. If you have not got internet access, please ask the competition secretaries for a printout.
